This expressive Kars rug from Eastern Anatolia brings together traditional village weaving with playful, almost naïve figural motifs. This washed out wide runner features a repeat pattern abstracted botehs that blend right into one another on the soft and calming camel ground. Framed by a crisp border of palmettes in caramel, soft blues, earthy reds and burnt orange on a deep navy ground.

This Shirvan was handwoven during the early 20th century in the Eastern Caucasus.

It features an allover design in diagonal rows on an earthy red ground. The field is composed of tree-like forms each surrounded by rosettes. In between each tree-like form are a geometric flower and a form with opposing bird-like figures.

It features an allover lattice design of flowering shrubs in reds, blues, yellow, blue and aubergine on a dark brown ground. Uncommonly and to great effect a narrow red ground border of vibrant polychrome rosettes is sandwiched between two wider matching borders of simple blossoming flowers on a soft camel ground. This Shahsavan rug was during the 19th century.  The octagons and ground are full of various protection symbols, flora and fauna and geometric shapes. Framed by a main border of talish rosettes on an ivory ground that is flanked by bent ribbon minor borders. Excellent use of color and contrast give the border wonderful movement and dimension. Framed by a main border of stepped polygons and triangles on a coral ground with ends that are beautifully embellished with multiple barber pole weft floats.
