Like many Quchan weavigns it is influenced by the nearby traditions. The perfect combination of Baluch design sensibility and Kurdish use of color. Simultaneously simple yet visually complex it features a design of concentric diamonds created with blocks of color over a totemic latticework. Multiple reds and blues are joined by a lovely orange and a deep brown. Inspired by their Baluch neighbors, a striking ivory is masterfully used to awaken the piece and provide it's visual impact. This Ersari Turkmen rug was woven during the first quarter of the 20th century in Northern Afghanistan. It features a traditional Ersari gül design with a soft palette of orange and indigo on an earthy madder red ground with accents of natural undyed brown and ivory wool. The more skeletal secondary güls are nice complement to the fuller main guls and give the field a more open feel.

Ersari Turkmen Rug - 6'8 x 10'8

This Baluch rug was handwoven during the first quarter of the 20th century near the border of Iran and Afghanistan. It features a design of rosette or burr filled diamonds in a lattice format. In tones of madder red, navy, peachy pink and vibrant pops of ivory providing nice nice contrast and visual interest. Finished with multiple columns of selvedge along the sides and finely woven soumak capping the top and bottom. A well balanced and visually intriguing piece.

This Antique Serapi Rug features the classic Heriz layout with a graphic geometric central medallion. Great quality 19th-century Heriz rugs are often referred to as Serapi. Serapi patterning like what is exhibited here is often looser and freer than most later Heriz rugs. Serapis also have a softer palette and can include some unexpected tones. A soft and balanced palette of soft brick, coral, powder blue, wheat, and coral contrasts well against ivory and deep navy.

This Vibrant Heriz Rug features a geometric central medallion with vibrant jewel tones and meaty wool. A tomato-red field is complemented by deep navy, powder blue, green, gold, coral, and ivory. The four ivory cornices invigorate the rug and wonderful jewel tones add flavor to the composition. It is framed by a main border of alternating palmettes and serrated leaves. In very good condition with minimal wear for its considerable age.

This Shirvan rug features a classic soumak medallions in blue on a patinated brick field containing shape filled octagons, rosettes and various other protection symbols. Framed by a main border of sharply petalled rosettes that is flanked by minor borders of interlocking 'z's. </span>Classic soumak patterning rendered in pile weave is very rare.

Kerman rug handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century. It features an allover design of bouquets and floral sprays in soft tones of pinks, blues and browns on a creamy ivory ground. It is framed by a perfectly reconciled border of blossoming flowers on a light blue ground. Precisely rendered to great visual effect with a soft palette for an understated yet elegant feel.

Elegant Ivory and Blue Kerman Rug - 8'10 x 12'7

This Hadji Jalili Hunting Tabriz features a classic hunting motif against a backdrop of scrolling arabesques on a desirable burnt orange ground that is highly characteristic of Hadji Jalili weaving. The arabesque grows from central palmettes sprouting leaves and floral forms while providing a lush landscape for various animals to frolic. The animals are rendered in pairs with the most prominent showcasing lions hunting deer near the bottom.

Mid Century Serab Runner features a soft camel ground that is vast and open both in the field and around the perimeter. Large and small devices alternate over the open ground and are framed by two simple borders. A limited palette of calming tones of dark brown, soft pink, and celadon accentuate the natural camel tones for which these rugs are famed.

Antique Tabriz oversized rug featuring a central medallion with multiple iterations of the Herati pattern that maintains the same scale but subtly changes color combination to a great visual effect. The repeat Herati emanates in different waves from a dark brown center to soft-toned grounds of ivory, teal, and burnt orange. Four cornices work in the opposing direction and reflect color the exchange found in the center.
