This Karabagh kilim was in the southern Caucasus during the second quarter of the 20th century.

It features horizontal row of stars or abstracted flowers in light and dark brown, soft greens, slate and vibrant red and orange on a black ground. The pattern is simple but interesting and can be read multiple depending on what the viewer focuses on. Woven of hearty handspun with the undyed brown warps adding an additional aesthetic dimension.

In good condition with some small holes as pictured. Flatwoven with a dense floppy handle.
