This Art Deco rug was handwoven in Tientsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century. 

This Deco rug features a central dragon surrounded by additional dragons in each of it's four corners all atop an open golden yellow ground framed by a thick unadorned navy border. The scaly and serpentine dragons come in a variety of tones and are each surrounded by colorful cloudbands which emphasize that they are in flight. In China the dragon is often depicted winglessly flying through clouds. I

This Art Deco rug was handwoven in Tientsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century. 

This Deco rug features a central dragon surrounded by additional dragons in each of it's four corners all atop an open golden yellow ground framed by a thick unadorned navy border. The scaly and serpentine dragons come in a variety of tones and are each surrounded by colorful cloudbands which emphasize that they are in flight. In China the dragon is often depicted winglessly flying through clouds. It is very auspicious and represents power or good fortune.

In very good condition with some areas of wear and where the cotton foundation shows through. An artificial fringe was attached and has worn down near the edges. If you prefer the fringe can be removed by us prior to purchase. Pile is medium height with a dense and heavy handle.
