This tapestry was woven in Southern Mexico during the 20th century.
It features a central design of a copper-toned figure in profile wearing black and white Mayan attire and holding a cup of what may be a Cocoa drink. A variety of animal forms are displayed around the figure in soft pink and a sandy brown. The central panel is on a blue backdrop and is flanked on the top and bottom by alternating stripes in soft pink, sandy brown, olive, maroon, and black. Would look nice hung on a wall.
In very good condition, signs of wear consistent with age.
