Vintage cheerful and colorful mirror-work embroidery from Gujarat in Western India. More specifically it was woven by the Rabari community in the Kutch region of Gujarat.

A dharaniya is a wall hanging used for special occasions in this region of India. This particular dharaniya features a free-hand design of trees, birds, and rosettes, embroidered in a rainbow of colors alongside lovely mirror-work. We find yellows, oranges, greens, and pinks, on a soft ivory ground. The border is black with mirror-work embroidery resembling suns.

In very good condition, with signs of wear consistent with age. Light and airy handle, this textile would work perfectly as a wall hanging or decorative element around the home.
