Regular price $120.00 Sale

Vintage Mola cloth handmade by the Guna (previously spelled Kuna) people of Panama.

Mola is a reverse applique technique, similar to the technique used in quilting, but using multiple layers of different-colored cloth that are first sewn together before a design is created by cutting away different layers. This mola features vibrant tones of burgundy, orange, black and tan. It features offset rows of cross or swastika filled diamonds surrounded by sharp, wavy lightning like lines. Partial bits of pattern have been added both horizontally and vertically near the edges hinting at a continuity of pattern out of the frame and into infinity.

The fabric is in very good condition.
