This Khaden was handwoven in Tibet during the early 20th century.
It features three large lotus palmettes in vibrant tones of blues, reds, orange, pink, and yellow, and ivory on deep navy ground. With an inner minor border composed of a Greek key motif and an exterior major border of energetic cloud bands. The format and design suggest use as a "Khaden" or sleeping rug usually associated with Tibetan weaving.
This rug is in very good condition, with signs of wear consistent with age. The pile is medium height with a soft floppy handle. Some worn areas have been professionally repaired.
