This Soumak rugwas handwoven during late 19th century in the Caucasus. The soumak weave is achieved through extra weft wrapping, which gives it a particular look and feel typical of these kinds of rugs. This Soumak features three central medallions in blue on a brick field with geometric shapes throughout. In good condition with wear throughout, consistent with its significant age. The original braided fringe is still intact.
