This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China.
It features a central scene of two mythological fenghuangs surrounding a red and pink peony on a yellow ground. The yellow oval is flanked by four prancing stags on a seafoam green ground. The whole is framed by a border of blossoming red and pink peonies on green vines and finished with a thick block of navy around the perimeter.
In very good condition, with minimal wear. Dense with a floppy handle and lustrous touch.
