This antique Shirvan was woven during the late 19th century in the eastern Caucasus. It features a rare ivory field with a multicolored pattern of geometric flowers which contain smaller rosettes in the center. The bold main border is comprised of the "birds on a pole" pattern and is woven using the same colored wool as the central field, lending a nice harmony to the rug. In the good condition, wear is consistent with age. All four edges have been reinforced.
