This rug was woven by the Quchan Kurds of Khorasan during the second quarter of the 20th century.
Like many Quchan weavings it is influenced by the nearby traditions. The perfect combination of Baluch design sensibility, and Kurdish use of color. Simultaneously simple, yet visually complex, it features a design of concentric diamonds created with blocks of color over a totemic latticework. Multiple reds and blues are joined by a lovely orange and a deep brown. Inspired by their Baluch neighbors, a striking ivory is masterfully used to awaken the piece and provide it's visual impact.
In Very Good condition with minimal wear for it's age.
