Handwoven midcentury Chinese Deco rug.
This unique rug is oval-shaped, with the original fringe still intact. It has a true black field, with an oval ring of various multicolored flowers. Blue, pink, orange, and yellow blossoms can be identified as stylized peonies, narcissus, chrysanthemum, lotus, plum blossoms, and peach blossoms. The cut-pile technique of cutting piles at different angles to sculpt and shape the wool is used to stunning effect in this rug.
In excellent condition, with no signs of wear. Pile is plush and thickly woven and medium height, with a sturdy handle.
