This antique Afshar rug was handwoven in the vicinity of Kerman in Southeast Iran during the first quarter of the 20th century.
The field is composed of an all-over abstracted herati design of flowers and leaves on an electric blue field. The main border features daintily woven flowers, typical of Afshar rugs. The minor borders are candy-cane stripes, alternating between two-tone and rainbow colors. Skirt borders on both ends complete the design and frame the rug.
In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Low pile with a soft handle.
