This small bag or "Chanteh" was handwoven by the Baluch during the middle of the 20th century.
The bag face is double sided with a densely woven pile on both sides. Braided loops at the top of both bag faces act as clasps. The central design is separated in four quadrants in light and dark purple and ivory accents. It is framed by a main ivory border of alternating 8 pointed stars. The top of the bag is left open for access and is finished with one line of ivory that is soumak woven. What really makes this little bag special are the myriad tassels of hand spun wool surrounding it and embellished with weaving, shells and handmade glass beads in turquoise.
In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age.
