This Deco rug was woven in Eastern China during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It's woven in a semicircle shape reminiscent of a fan. It is composed of a pictorial design featuring a shoreline with houses and trees, and a small boat in the water. The indigo blue of the water is contrasted with the soft peaches and tans of the landscape. The edges are finished off with a lavender selvedge.
In good condition, signs of wear are consistent with age. Edges have been reinforced for longevity. The pile is low, with a sturdy handle. Would look great as wall art!
