Chinese Peking rug handwoven in China during the first quarter of the 20th century.
This rug features a silver field with a large, uncontained border and a sparse floral design. The central floral wreath also includes a butterfly, a symbol of joy. The four corners have pheasants perched on branches, and the foliage and blossoms are probably peach blossoms. The color palette is minimal and composed of silver grey, light and dark indigo blues, and peachy browns.
In fair condition, with some more pronounced areas of wear (pictured). Pile is low with a soft handle.
