This mat was handwoven in Pakistan during the late 20th century.
It features a message woven in brown Urdu over a tan field with tassels hanging downwards suggesting the mat was meant to be hung. The message loosely translates to implore the guest “When you enter my home treat it as it is your own.” Essentially the same concept as “mi casa es is casa”.
In excellent condition with no wear and all tassels intact.
