This rug was handwoven in Veramin during the early 20th century.
It features a classic mina khani design in a wide array of tones including red, pink, blue, green, purple and yellow which really pop against the deep surmah or blue/black ground. Uncharacteristically, a red and blue Laleh Abbasi pattern is utilized for the main border and flanked by ivory ground minor borders. Laleh Abbasi patterning is almost always used as a guard border around the perimeter of a rug. Other unique details include the insertion of two botehs in the pattern near the center of the composition as well as the offset end border which adds personality and charm.
This rug has a lustrous wool pile and the handle is sturdy. In very good condition, with very minor signs of wear.
