This Shirvan rug was woven in the Caucasus during the late 19th century.
It features three powerful leshgi stars on an earthy red ground full of various rosettes and protection symbols. Encapsulated by multiple individualized borders including rosettes, sunbursts, and calyx and serrated leaves. A very handsome palette of blues, reds, greens and aubergine is accentuated by glowing coral and orange among other tones.
Structurally sound with wear throughout in the pile which is mostly due to oxidation in the browns. All four sides have been reinforced for longevity.
