This Deco rug was handwoven during the 1930s in Tientsin, China.
It features a calm mauve ground with a soft coral border. The design is directional and whimsical which is not restrained by the border. In the bottom left is an orb containing a vase with branches full of multicolor rosettes. A flowering branch grows form the right side with a hanging lantern. A single, small yin-yang symbol is seen in the border on the left hand side. Butterflies are found throughout the piece from the sparse field to pair contained within a wreath of leaves near the top. Truly a statement piece, this rug will liven up any room.
In good condition. Some light wear and discoloration (as pictured). There are two areas where a patch is glued to the back to secure weaker areas. Dense and durable with a heavy handle.
