This Bidjar was handwoven during the late 19th century.
It features a blue central medallion with pink teardrop medallions reminiscent of blossoming poppies floating atop an open and expansive ivory field. A variation of the herati design with a wonderful addition of curled leaves can be found in both the medallion and the cornices which are rendered in blues, greens, pinks, and yellow. The meandering leaf and rosette main border sits on a red ground and is flanked by various minor borders. Of note is the inner border that connects the four cornices and the final outer border of solid ivory which frames the whole and harmonizes perfectly with expansive ivory field. A strong durable and stately rug that would look at home everywhere from a medieval to a loft apartment.
In very good condition with even wear throughout. The pile is low and dense with a sturdy handle.
