This trapping was handwoven by Ersari Turkmen around Middle Amu Darya in Central Asia during the 20th Century. The Ersari weavings from this region in this style are often referred to as Beshir.
This trapping features a panel of ikat-inspired güls in a simple and straightforward color palette of earthy reds, ivory, yellow, and navy. The panel is framed by a main border and a small minor border of various "X" shaped motifs. The highlight of the piece is the wonderful hanging fringe which alternates between madder red and deep indigo. Likely made to hang on the wall or for use on a pack animal. The top is finished with lovely brocaded embellishment.
In very good condition. Medium pile, Some light fraying to the original fringe most is mostly intact, with a sturdy handle.
