This Kalamkari was handcrafted in Isfahan during the first half of the 20th century.
Kalamkari is a traditional technique originating in India and known for it’s intricate designs. It involves block printing and/or hand painting with dye on fabric. This Kalamkari comes in a desirable and less common round format. It features central medallion with a central rosette surrounded intricate outer borders includeing cypress trees, bird bird-filled lappets and paisleys among other motifs. Beautifully finished with silk green fringe.
