Political Guna Mola Cloth - 1'3 x 1'5

Regular price $450.00 Sale

Vintage Mola cloth handmade by the Guna (previously spelled Kuna) people of Panama.

Mola is a reverse appliqué technique, similar to the technique used in quilting but using multiple layers of different-colored cloth that are first sewn together before a design is created by cutting away different layers.

This is a very collectible politically themed Mola from the 1952 Panamanian elections. It features a Bull which is the symbol of The National Patriotic Coalition which is a right-wing nationalist party. The text can be translated to " Symbols of Triumph for the Homeland"  The dates "1952" on the left and "1956" to the right represent the term.

The fabric is in very good condition.
