This Shahsavan rug was during the 19th century.  The octagons and ground are full of various protection symbols, flora and fauna and geometric shapes. Framed by a main border of talish rosettes on an ivory ground that is flanked by bent ribbon minor borders. Excellent use of color and contrast give the border wonderful movement and dimension. The shahsavan are mostly known for their bags and flatweaves.quite rare and collectible.

This Shahsavan rug was handwoven during the 19th century.

It features an field of five octagons in various reds, blues and purples with yellow, green and ivory. The octagons and ground are full of various protection symbols, flora and fauna and geometric shapes. Framed by a main border of talish rosettes on an ivory ground that is flanked by bent ribbon minor borders. Excellent use of color and contrast give the border wonderful movement and dimension. The shahsavan are mostly known for their bags and flatweaves. Pile woven pieces are quite rare and collectible.

In Very good condition for its advanced age. The rug has been professionally restored overseas.
