This Great Depression-era hook rug is a gorgeous piece of American folk art. Patriotic rugs like this example were often woven of scrap fibers and sold on the side of the road in the 1930s. The design features a stars and stripes border and an eagle carrying a red, white, and blue shield with a banner reading 'E Pluribus Unum' on a green field. Recently professionally restored, this piece is in excellent condition.
