This textile was woven during the 20th century likely in Southeast Asia.
It depicts two copper-toned figures against a backdrop of blocks of green, purple and brown, and beige. There is one main figure as well as the profile of another figure near the edge of the weaving. It is likely a depiction of an Apsara, a female celestial being that is often depicted in Hindu and Buddhist art throughout South and Southeast Asia. Apsaras will have different connotations depending upon their context and the tradition which is representing them. The Apsara here appears more Southeast Asian in form and is holding what appears to be a sacred plant in her hand.
In very good condition, the color has faded slightly but evenly on the face.
