This Malayer rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It features an unusual and very delightful pattern of weaving hands. The hands are featured in six repeating columns alternating with flowers and leaves on a navy field as well as with same design on the icy blue border. Each hand pinches what can be seen as both a vine and yarn to reference the creation of the pattern through the act of weaving. Something really different and exceptional that is wonderful celebration of the medium.
In very condition, signs of wear are consistent with age. The pile is low, with a hefty handle.
