This Malayer runner was handwoven during the early 20th century.
This stunning runner features an allover geometric design of eight-pointed stars that seem to float above alternating diamonds. With patinated but lively blues, greens, reds, and yellows with accents of ivory and chocolate. It is framed by thin lines of solid color and three thin borders of floral meanders each on a different color ground. There is some oxidation in the browns that give it a tile-like appearance. Wonderful use of color and contrast builds a skillfully executed mosaic.
In very good condition with minimal wear for age. The pile is low but full, with a hefty handle.
