Kurdish rug handwoven during the third quarter of the 19th century or earlier.
This rare runner features a pattern of sparse and asymmetrically organized botehs in dark and light blues, apricot, and madder on a plush, variegated camel field. Abstracted figures and shapes which are likely the weaver and a rendition of bats or birds can be found near the center. A colorful main border of wide diagonal stripes more commonly found in Kurdish bag faces energizes the composition and adds additional distinction.
In good condition, signs of wear in some areas. Pile is plush, with a hefty handle. Edges have been reinforced for longevity.
