This Coptic textile was woven in Egypt or the Levant in the 4th - 5th century AD. 

This large fragment has a highly intricate design rendered in the two classic tones associated with Coptic textiles, purplish brown and wheat. It features a central band of octagons primarily filled with lion-like figures except for one central octagon filled with two figures with extraterrestrial-like features. The central is flanked by two borders full of overlapping and intersecting anthropomorphic figures.
