This Art Deco rug was handwoven in Tientsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century.  This Deco rug is quite calm and elegant.  An asymmetric inner border of branches and leaf like shapes in autumnal shades provide substance and balance to the delicate tone on tone patterning found in the the field and around the perimeter.

This vintage patchwork quilt was crafted in North America during the middle of the 20th century. It features patch-worked grid composed of squares. Each square is formed of well balanced triangles of either colorful flannel patterns or more open dotted and striped cream ground patterning. The squares have been pieced together wondefully and the composition can be read many different ways that is accentuated by its perfectly square dimensions.

This Coptic textile was woven in Egypt or the Levant in the 4th - 5th century AD.  This large fragment has a highly intricate design rendered in the two classic tones associated with Coptic textiles, purplish brown and wheat. It features a central band of octagons primarily filled with lion-like figures except for one central octagon filled with two figures with extraterrestrial-like features. The central is flanked by two borders full of overlapping and intersecting anthropomorphic figures.

This Coptic textile was woven in Egypt or the Levant in the 5th century AD.  It features a roundel with various vegetal motifs on a rich red ground. It is framed by rounded borders including a main latchhooked border. With tones of green and yellow to go with the classic purplish brown and wheat colored linen classically found in these textiles.

This Coptic textile was woven in Egypt or the Levant in the 7th century AD.  It features a two confronting birds beak to beak surrounded by remnants of a circle made of white dots on a dark blue/green ground. It is flanked by borders of intersecting blocks in blue, yellow and green. There is a suggestion of latchooked roundels on the remaining bottom section of the fragment.

This lovely chapan is crafted from green wool. It is embroidered with an array of tones including black, red, white, orange and purple around its perimeter and up the sides. The tendrils of a tree of life or other plant form are found aroudn the slits on both sides. A red printed floral liner adds another element of interest.

Timuri Baluch was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century in Western Afghanistan. It features a lattice pattern of stepped diamonds and serrated polygons. With lush deep blue and red wool with a dark but lustrous complexion. The addition of a dark brown which has oxidized naturally sculpts the pattern and gives the shapes the feeling of floating in space. Bright speckles of white cotton have been woven around the main border adding a subtle touch of electricity. weft float
