This Sivas rug was woven in central Turkey at the end of the 20th century.
It features a classic pattern from the city of navy, white and soft orange palmettes and overlapping red and white strap work. The pattern sits on an undulating blue-green field that has a tone and effect which is really spectacular and steals the show. The whole is framed by a meandering palmette border with the same tones as the field, most prominently a rich lacquer red.
In Excellent condition, woven using hearty and natural dyes. Dense and hard wearing with a heavy handle.
