This kilim was handwoven in Eastern China around 2010 for textile designer Aelfie.
This is a first edition Aelfie rug which features an experimental design that was produced in very limited quantities. The design is of abstracted red "Kufic" script on a white background which reads "Seek knowledge in the East". The simple yet elegant design has a maze-like quality and can be alternatively read with red as the background tone.
In excellent condition, flatwoven with a floppy handle.
