Oushak prayer rug from Western Anatolia, handwoven during the late 19th century.
It is woven entirely of luscious angora wool and features a stunning bright two-toned mihrab. Part of the mihrab had oxidized and was rewoven with new angora wool. A variety of minor borders featuring carnations, tulips and flowering vines frame the whole in soft faded pinks, oranges, ivory and a lightly oxidized brown.
In excellent condition, areas of oxidation have been fully restored. Pile is medium, with a soft silky handle.
