More about Ziegler & Co...

The Anglo-Swiss firm Ziegler and Company was the first to organize the production and export of oriental carpets with Western Capital. The firm had strict quality control and utilized the best wools which were centrally dyed in their facilities in Arak. Today the term 'Ziegler' is used in the market as a label of quality to describe the best of the best Sultanabads which represented a new era of rug weaving which was inspired by 16th - 17th century Safavid workshop production but adapted the tastes of 19th century Europe and America. They are highly prized by designers and collectors alike and known for their large-scale patterning and muted almost pastel coloration.
