This Turkish Yatak was woven in the Derbent region of Konya during the middle of the 20th Century.
This rug features a field of two medallions woven of thick shaggy wool. The thickness of the wool blurs the design in an interesting almost as if the whole rug was vibrating. in a well-balanced and interesting palette of reds, oranges, purple, yellow, greens, and ivories. This style of rug is common in central Anatolia and is known as a Yatak and has origins as a bedding rug.
In excellent condition, with signs of wear consistent with age. The pile is lush and soft, with a soft handle.
