This Ningxia rug was handwoven in China during the first quarter of the 20th century. 

The main design is composed of a central mandala, encircled by flower branches and blossoms on a rich red ground. This red tone is very auspicious and often associated with prosperity. The main border design is separated into cartouches that include various auspicious symbols. Between each cartouche is an endless knot symbol. The minor borders feature the classic pearl motif and Greek key motif.

In very good condition with little to no wear. Pile is low and soft, with an airy handle.
