This jajim was woven in Northern Afghanistan during the second quarter of the 20th century.
It features multiple strips sewn together horizontally with a pattern of alternating stripes in yellow, navy, crimson, and a bright white attained by using cotton. The stripes are rendered with both stepped and serrated edges. This very versatile textile can work as a rug, wall hanging, or throw. Initially intended for use in a tent as a divider, to cover belongings, as a sofreh, or likely all of these and more.
In Good condition. Some areas of wear and repair to fringe. Flatwoven but durable with a hefty handle.
