This Baluch rug was handwoven during the second quarter of the 20th century in western Afghanistan.

It features a central turkmen-esque medallion flanked by two rectangular cartouches filled with vegetal forms. Framed by a variety of narrow borders in different simple abstracted forms that build layers and dimensionality. A wide palette for baluch standards with deep burgundy, soft reds, peach, ivory and brown. Small pops of yellow and purple rendered in silk are a welcome addition.

In very good condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Some curling on the corners (as pictured). Low pile, with a loose handle.
