Mid Century Moroccan Ouaouz Area Rug with bright orange and red shaggy pile, as well as neutral toned sumac weave

Mid Century Moroccan Ouaouz - 5' x 8'2

Regular price $975.00 Sale

This Ait Ouaouzguite rug was woven in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco during the middle of the 20th century.

It features a series of panels with a prominent central panel that showcases a large diamond on a brown ground. The panels alternate between pile and flatware construction and are known as "Glaoui". Alternating X's and burdock symbols have been woven in the flat woven areas. The whole utilizes a more restrained palette of saffron, brown, red, ivory, and gray. The sides of the rugs feature lovely tufts and the top and bottom of the rug are embellished with a couple of inches of brocaded skirting which can also be seen in the flatwoven panels.

This rug is in great condition and has very little wear given its age, as pictured.
