This Kurdish runner was handwoven in Northwest Iran during the first quarter of the 20th century.
The field is composed of two red grounded lozenges filled with a variation on the classic Herati pattern. This is contrasted by the simple yet very deep navy field. There is a signature at the top of the rug in white, likely of the weaver. The elegance of this design is highlighted by the minimal border composed of rosettes.
In excellent condition, with low pile and a sturdy handle. Signs of wear consistent with age.
