Vintage Polish Tapestry by Bożena Bieniowska - 2'7 x 3'3

Regular price $775.00 Sale

This charming tapestry was handwoven in Lowicz, Poland by Maria Barlak, after a painting by Polish artist Bożena Bieniowska (Polish multimedia artist with work in the National Museum in Warsaw).

This particular piece is titled "Country House in Żelazowa Wolï", and features a country home by a lake surrounded by trees, a scene which is reflected in the lake by the cottage. It appears to be fall or winter since the trees seem to have lost their foliage. The color palette is rich with earthy tones like taupe, camel, grays, and soft yellows. Supplementary embroidery to the trees and the house entrance brings texture and emphasis to those areas.

In excellent condition, with no signs of wear. Woven using the tapestry technique, it is sturdy and sculptural to the touch, perfect for a wall hanging or decorative element in the home.
