This cotton dhurrie was handwoven in Bikaner jail in Rajasthan during the turn of the 20th century.

It features a series of multicolored stripes in red, mauve and blue on deep indigo field. There are white snowfalke motifs alternating in rows between the stripes and in a red and white flanking stripe. These rugs were part of prison reform beginning in 19th century India.

In excellent condition, some wear on the fringes.
