Low pile rug with a red field and multicolored concentric diamond design and floral border, in excellent condition

Unusual Karabagh Rug - 5'4 x 7'3

Regular price $2,500.00 Sale

This Karabagh rug was handwoven during the early 20th century in the Southern Caucasus.

The graphic design is usually found in flatweaves and is very rare to be rendered in pile. The field is composed of two central diamonds on a fiery red ground. The diamonds are hooked and concentric, woven in an uncommon yet attractive palette of yellow, pink, orange, and light blue. The classic Karabagh borders alternate between realistic blossom meanders and a geometric floral trellis. A highly unusual and collectible rug.

In excellent condition, signs of wear consistent with age. The pile is low, the handle is soft.
