Regular price $375.00 Sale

This rug was handhooked in the New England during the first quarter of the 20th century.

The rug exhibits a compass rose near top end with the coordinates of Plymouth, Massachusetts which is the famed landing place of the Pilgrims. Throughout the reddish field are hidden s's and r's, and the number 56 woven in a brownish-green to the side. Below the field is a little vignette depicting a pilgrim woman spinning red wool on a spinning wheel. A cat is by her side and a rocking chair is by the window. Simple green borders frame this delicate little rug.

In good condition, signs of wear consistent with age. Edges have been reinforced for longevity. The pile is low, made of recycled materials and hand-hooked on a burlap base. The handle is soft.
