This Farahan Sarouk rug was finely woven in Western Iran during the first quarter of the 20th century.
It features an all over Herati design on a deep blue field with soft red and white scalloped cornices. The main border is a detailed scrolling palmette design with the two minor borders a simplified take on the same theme.
In perfect condition, with no signs of wear. Pile is low and very densely woven, with a stiff handle. Wool is soft and lustrous. A highly collectible rug.
