Regular price $1,500.00 Sale

This rug was woven in the middle of the 20th century in China. The design is composed of a central medallion featuring two foo-dogs, mythical beasts who act as the guardians of sacred buildings and palaces. Surrounding the central medallion are four lotus flower medallions and various floating floral sprays upon the deep indigo blue field. The lotus is a sacred flower representing purity and perfection and is used both in the field and the main border of this stunning rug.

The main border features lotus flowers, and the stylized symbol shou meaning 'long life'. One minor border is composed of a greek key motif, while the other is of the common pearl motif.

This rug is densely woven, with a soft yet sturdy handle. The pile is woven with full, lustrous wool. In excellent condition, with no signs of wear.
