Antique Heriz Runner - 2'4 x 8'4

Antique Heriz Runner - 2'4 x 8'4

Regular price $985.00 Sale

This Heriz runner was handwoven in Northwest Iran during the first quarter fo the 20th century. The inky blue-black field color is often referred to as surmah, because it is as dark as the ancient eyeliner kohl. The main design is composed of five medallions, in alternating blues and browns. The designs within the medallions alternate between the eight-pointed "Teshup-Zelan" star, and stepped diamond shapes. Smaller rhombuses are on either sides of the medallions, and little rosettes fill the field. The main color palette is limited to blues, browns, and yellows. Red is used to highlight and outline the details, adding movement and pizzaz to the rug.

In good condition, with mild wear throughout. Low pile, with a sturdy handle.
